Miss Earth is an annual international beauty pageant that promotes environmental awareness. Miss Earth aside from Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss international is also one of the most publicized beauty contests in the around the globe. Miss Earth is one of the three re-known largest beauty pageants in the world in terms of the number of national-level competitions to participate in the world finals.
Miss Earth 2011, is the 11th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, is scheduled to be held on December 3, 2011 at the University of the Philippines Theater in Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines. The theme of this year’s Miss Earth edition will be “The Earth is Crying. Let the Earth Smile Again!” The show will be aired live by Star World at 8:00 p.m. while ABS-CBN and telecast on Studio 23 will broadcast on Sunday, December 4 at 10:30 p.m. The pageant was originally scheduled to be held at the Impact, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, Thailand, however the pageant organizers decided to move the pageant back to the Philippines due to the massive flooding in Thailand. The current Miss Earth titleholder is Nicole Faria of India, Miss Earth 2010 who was crowned on December 4, 2010 that was held in Vietnam and televised worldwide. Miss Earth 2010, Nicole Faria of India will crown her successor at the end of the event.
